Vintage MCLOUGHLIN BROS. 1882 ROBINSON CRUSOE In Words of One Syllable Godolphin

$ 15.00

Vintage 1882 ROBINSON CRUSOE Hard Cover Book 'In words of one syllable' by Mary Godolphin. Published by McLoughlin Brothers Publishers, New York, USA. Contains 93 pages and several beautiful chromolithograph plates. Book measures 9-3/4" x 8". Shows slight staining on cover and a small tear on the linen side binding. Overall very nice though. "Mary Godolphin was the pseudonym of Lucy Aikin who undertook translating great literature into single-syllable words so that young readers could enjoy plots that were considerably more interesting than, say, the McGuffey readers of the 1880s or the Dick and Jane primers of the 1950s. She produced this volume based on Daniel Defoe’s most famous work." — librivox
